Treasury Management in Banks
Treasury is possibly the most important function of a bank. The Treasury manages the liquidity and cash flows in the bank alongwith managing foreign exchange, securities, assets/liability management, risk management and regulatory compliance. It acts as the custodian of the bank’s cash and liquid assets and has the duty of ensuring the best possible usage of the assets and liabilities of the bank. It requires a very high level of skillset to understand Treasury functions and therefore one needs to be skilled enough to get into a Treasury role.
